THE NAPC REVIEW is a major platform of communication and forms an important part of the NAPC's ongoing work in informing, exchanging ideas and uniting medical experts in order to raise the standard of healthcare in the UK.
The book is specifically designed to provide decision-makers within the profession with relevant information on the latest developments in clinical care, medical supplies and equipment, pharmaceutical supplies and management and education issues. The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PRIMARY CARE (NAPC) was formed as the result of a merger between the National Association of Fundholding Practices (NAFP) and the Association of Independent Multifunds (AIM).
The organization, both in its original guise and in its current role, offers support and advice to its members and also holds routine discussions with Ministers for Health and their officials, with a view to influencing policy on the future direction of primary care.
The NAPC believes the future of primary care lies in service redesign, public and patient engagement as well as in the Practice Based Commissioning scheme, which it enthusiastically supports. The Association is heavily involved in meetings with Government to assist in removing some of the barriers to the operation of the scheme, brought about by the reconfiguration of Primary Care Trusts and some of its personalities.
Leslie Paine OBE, who is the Editor of THE NAPC REVIEW, has worked in the NHS for 35 years and was a hospital Chief Executive for 25 years, at Addenbrookes in Cambridge and the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal in London. He is a writer and editor of a number of books on healthcare and has edited several journals and yearbooks including "World Hospitals", "Kings Fund News", "British Hospital Management", "Health Service Week" and the annual publication of The International Hospital Federation.
He is a member of the King's Fund Council, the Institute of Health Services Management, Chartered Institute of Journalists and the Hospital Officers' Club.
Distribution and Readership
The key to the success of the NAPC REVIEW is the quality of the readership, which is distributed on a strictly controlled basis to 7,500 key decision makers at UK GP surgeries, Primary Care Trusts and Health Authorities, in print and digital formats.
