ActionPhoto International AS is a Norwegian based company specializing in high end 360° Virtual Tours. ActionPhoto is recognized for delivering high quality panoramic pictures, integrated 360° photographs to enhance details, user friendly menus and informative text. The solution could include interactive maps and drawings, navigation capabilities and even integrated video.

The oilfield solution

The world's first 360° Panoramic Guide for Integrated Operations, PanoramicGuide-IO™, of an offshore installation was delivered early 2008. It combines high quality, true 360° panoramic pictures, photographs, interactive maps and navigation capabilities. The PanoramicGuide-IO™ allows the user to see the complete installation in 360 degrees and also to integrate platform drawings for easy navigation. The PanoramicGuide-IO can be run from a CD or from the Internet, enabling different locations sharing the same image.

Applications

The 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ is used as a communication and visualization tool for various work processes. The basic principle is the ability for several locations to simultaneously see the entire installation, being onshore or offshore, with true 360° panoramic pictures. Orientation around the installation is made very easy with the interactive maps and navigation capabilities.
•    Communication tool from the installation to the operations office in day-to-day activities and allows areas of interest or problems to be solved to be pinpointed. If something happens at the installation, the relevant 360° picture can be shown through video conference facilities, or alternatively on the PC. It improves communication and avoids misunderstanding as people with different background and experience can see the same photograph. Similarly, support personnel can share plans of equipment to be installed or modifications to be done with the personnel at the installation.
•    Integrated Operations for visualization of the installation and the facilities. Where video communication is difficult, the 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ is a great asset to Integrated Operations.
•    Planning of modifications and upgrades by allowing a remote user onshore to see photographs of the installation in 360 degrees. This also limits the need to travel to the installation, and in other cases it makes the trip shorter and more efficient as better planning can be carried out prior to the site visit.
•    Onshore Emergency Response Teams use the tool as an aid to visualize the remote installation to help support of the ongoing operation at the site. The 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ can be operational on numerous locations instantly.

New solutions

ActionPhoto now present the world's first 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ with Integrated Video from an offshore installation, the semi-submersible drilling rig Bideford Dolphin. The video is used for training purposes and demonstrates different work processes. The 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ with Integrated Video gives the user a unique opportunity to visualize the installation as well as to become familiar with the work processes in use. This inventive solution was developed with support from The Research Council of Norway.

The future

The 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ was nominated to the ONS Innovation Award august 08. It is the ambition of ActionPhoto to build on this success and offer the 360° PanoramicGuide-IO™ on a worldwide basis. In the short term ActionPhoto will be established in the UK to improve the presence and availability of our services.
